Sea Of Mutiny – Graphic Designers & 3D Modeler’s Progress

14 Jul

As I’ve mentioned before about Teaming Up With Graphic Designers and the theme switch from ‘Renegade’ to ‘Sea Of Mutiny‘ – I would post an update about some of the progress from collaborators. Between posting about teaming up with graphic designers and animators/3d modelers – the board game team and I decided that I would be the art director for Sea Of Mutiny.

Cards – Final:

Board – Still a work in progress:

Ships – Still a work in progress:

The ship’s aren’t supposed to be exact replicas of the inspiration piece.

Ship 1: George Andary

The things I like about the inspiration piece:

  • The simplicity and straight forward structure.
  • The clean shapes & lines.
  • The different design.

The things I dislike about the inspiration piece:

  • The boat itself is very tall, not including the sails.
  • The ladder at the front should be something more aerodynamic – A really cool front piece like an ocean creature.

Ship 2: James Day

The thing’s I like about the inspiration piece:

  • The classic style.
  • The Clean Lines.
  • The Figurehead.
  • How the sails are positioned and the size and shape of sails.
  • The clean lines of the boat and simple shapes.
  • The cannons out the side are also a very nice touch.

The things I dislike about the inspiration piece:

  • The sails could be have some form of design other than just plain white – But not necessarily skull and crossbones.

Ship 3: James Day

Ship 3 has taken it’s base model form from Ship 2.

The thing’s I like about the inspiration piece:

  • LOVE the everything about this ship
  • The fact it looks run down and old.
  • The rags of sail over the nets.
  • The specific positioning on the crow’s nest/towers.
  • The back of the boat that looks very spikey – with (what looks like a claw?) flowing backwards.
  • Love the windswept look like the boat flows through the waves and the air.
  • Love the detail.
  • The strong lines.
  • LOVE The front of the ship that looks like an evil mouth.

There is nothing I dislike about this boat.

I’ll continue to work with the graphic designers and animators to keep progressing the rest of the elements of Sea Of Mutiny to get it to a fully polished physical board game – Including a box and box art.

Until next time –
